Why I Created Your Turn Is Now
I spent 34 years balancing a career, a 25-year marriage, and raising three children. Along the way, I put a lot on hold: hobbies, trips, friendships, my health, and the things that made me feel like me.
Then the house got quiet. I could have seen that as an ending. Instead, I realized it was the first time in a long time that the choices were mine.
So I'm exploring. I'm blogging, building a business, and finally taking the trips I'd been saving for "someday." I'm trying a few new creative hobbies and picking up the ones I let slip, like gardening and cooking. I'm documenting all of it here, the wins and the awkward first tries.
This is for my kids, too. I lost my dad to Alzheimer's, and I realized how much of his life I never knew, until it was too late to ask. I want my kids to have that window into me, a living diary of what life at this stage looks like. They're busy living their own lives right now, but someday I hope it's a gift.
I've always felt guilty focusing on myself and doing things for me. I'm learning that it's okay to put ourselves first. If you're in a chapter of change too, I'd love to have you along. Let's enjoy this "next" together!
